United World Colleges (UWC) Malaysian Scholarships 2009

Scholarships to pursue studies in United World Colleges (UWC) for the academic year of 2009 - 2011 is open.




Candidates must be Malaysian citizens aged between 16 to 18 years old. Candidates must be living and studying in Malaysia at the time of application. Limited number of places for the scholarships are available. Candidates must have taken their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) last year or alternatively will be sitting for their International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) this year. Students with at least six distinctions in SPM or 50 per cent A or A* in IGCSE, as well as good co-curriculum records, can apply.

Petronas Education Scholarship Programs


Degree Programs


1. PETRONAS Education Scholarship Overseas Programs

Petronas Education Scholarship Overseas programmes are mainly for those pursuing Engineering, Applied Science, Business Management and Economics. Under the programme, scholars will pursue their pre-university programmes (A-Levels / International Baccalaureate / Australian Foundation / New Zealand Foundation) in Malaysia and must excel prior to pursuing undergraduate studies overseas.

2. Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) Program

The UTP programme is for those wishing to pursue degree courses in engineering and technology at one of the most prestigious universities in Malaysia. Admission is based on excellent SPM qualifications. Under this programme, students are required to follow and pass the Foundation Programme (1 year) at UTP before proceeding with a Bachelor Programme

Local (UTP) and Foreign Universities

Field of Study:
Engineering, Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical,Electrical,Electrical & Electronics, Civil, Environmental,Geology,Geophysics, Medicine, Applied Science, Accounts & Finance, Business Administration, Business Management and Economics.

PETRONAS Education Scholarship are available to those with excellent results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination for undergraduate courses in Malaysia and overseas.
Academic Requirements:

Overseas Technical Programs

(Engineering, Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical,Electrical,Electrical & Electronics, Civil, Environmental,Geology,Geophysics, Medicine)

Credit in BM, at least Grade 2A in English, Modern Math, Add Math, Physics/ Chemistry/ any other Engineering related subjects. Total unit for the above 5 subjects to be not more than 10.

Overseas Non Technical Programs

(Accounts & Finance, Business Administration, Economics)

Credit in BM, at least Grade 2A in English, Modern Math, Prinsip Akaun/ Perdagangan/ Economics/any other relevent subjects. Total unit for the above 5 subjects to be not more than 10.

University Teknologi Petronas

(Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Information Technology, Information System)

Credit in BM, at least Grade 3B in English, Modern Math, Add Math, Physics/ Chemistry/ any other Engineering related subjects. Total unit of the above 5 subjects to be not more than 12 (Engineering) or 15 (IT/IS)

Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships by the Government of the Republic of Korea


Undergraduate Course and Graduate Course

Field of Study:
One-year korean language course and Four-year degree program in Korea.


* The applicants must be under 25 years old who have finished or are scheduled to finish a total of 12 years formal education as of 1 March 2009.
* Applicants should possess a good command of English and be willing to promote amicable relations between Malaysia and the Republic of Korea.

Benefits of Scholarship:

* Five-year study programme in Korea comprising one year of Korean Language course and four years of undergraduate course.
* Roundtrip airfare
* Monthly allowances (about RM2500)
* Settlement allowances
* Language training expenses
* Medical Insurance
* Full tuition fees coverage.

Other Details:

The Government of the Republic of Korea is offering scholarship for at least six Malaysian students in order to support their undergraduate studies in Korea.

The scholarship serves to promote education exchanges and friendship between Malaysia and Korea. Last year, the Korean government awarded scholarship to seven Malaysians for undergraduate degree course and forty two for graduate degree course.

The Korean Government scholarship for graduate studies will be announced in the next February 2009.

IB Diploma Programme Scholarship by SJI International (Singapore)


IB Diploma Programme


We are looking for outstanding students who are completing their level examinations this year, who have excellent quality of mind, active participation in non-academic activities, positive personal qualities and strong communication abilities. Scholarships providing 100% funding of school fees are also available for students from families with total annual family incomes of under $50,000 will be considered.

and the list is non-exhaustive. Try to be creative and get yourself prepared with more questions. It is definitely better to be prepared than betting yourself on impromptu interviews.
